Corinna Cowles’ work — pockets, pillows, paintings, curtains, wallpaper, and drapes in addition to ceramic work — is inspired by clothing and decorative patterns, engaging the viewer with absurd dislocations and transformations. Domestic life, craft, sculpture, identity, and class all seep out from a porous, multi-material plane of grids, loops, and abstractions of the everyday. The pieces she makes for Sparrow are representative of her latest work: handbuilt vessels focusing on experimentation and cycles of renewal, radiating with pops of color from custom-pigmented clays, underglazes, and glazes. Corinna currently lives and works in Philadelphia, PA.
