Obituary
With deep sorrow in our hearts, but with firm hope in the resurrection, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, María Susana who was called to the presence of the Lord on April 19, 2026, at the age of 94. She was a woman of Catholic faith, humble, kind, and deeply devoted to God and to her family. Her life was guided by prayer, love, and trust in the will of the Lord. As a mother, she was an example of sacrifice, tenderness, and spiritual strength. She was born on May 12, 1931 in Salitre, Guayas, Ecuador, a land she always carried in her heart, and passed away in New York City. She lived in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York, where she left a legacy of love, friendship, and respect among family, neighbors, and friends. She is survived by her children: Horacio, Dalia, Yury, Yasmin, Sandra, and Rolando. She was preceded in death by her son, Patricio. She also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish her memory and legacy of love.

From Susana Illescas Ochoa,

Mami Susy, you were the one...

Mami Susy, you were the one who raised me since I was a child, who shaped me with your quiet love and gentle wisdom. So many times, without saying a single word, I found all the answers I needed in your eyes. You were peace, you were kindness… you never held resentment, and through your example, you taught me what it means to be a good man. I remember so clearly that day we were walking together, when you told me, ‘a gentleman always walks on the right side of the sidewalk.’ In such a simple moment, you were teaching me respect, care, and how to treat a lady. Today I understand that every little thing you did was a life lesson.
Thank you for raising me, for loving me, and for everything you gave me. I will miss you forever, Mami.
May your soul rest in peace. God bless you always.
