Obituary
Linda Faye Milhouse, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, partner, sister, caregiver, and friend, was born on October 19, 1951, in Magee, Mississippi, to Willie Bell and Rowan Rankin. After a valiant battle with cancer, she departed this life leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, strength, compassion, and devotion to family.
In 1969, Linda moved to New York City, where she beganbuilding a life filled with family, purpose, and service to others.There, she met and married Harold Milhouse, and from thatunion came two daughters, Tracey Milhouse and the late Kysha Francis. Linda later met her lifelong partner, James Crippen, with whom she shared many cherished years and welcomed her son, Jonathan Crippen.
Linda dedicated more than 50 years of her life to nursing and care giving. She began her career at Saint Vincent’s Hospital and later continued her work at Lenox Hill Hospital, where she retired in 2015. But retirement never truly meant retiring from caring for others. Caring was simply who Linda was.
She possessed an innate ability to make everyone around herfeel loved, cared for, welcomed, and at home. Whether through her work as a healthcare professional, her devotion toher family, or the countless ways she showed up for thepeople she loved, Linda gave of herself freely. Her compassion was genuine, her strength was unwavering, and her presence was a gift.
Linda’s greatest legacy was not only the lives she touched through her career, but the love she poured into her family. She created memories that will be treasured for generations andtaught those around her the meaning of resilience, generosity,and unconditional love.
Linda was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Kysha Francis (Brian); her parents, Willie Bell and Rowan Rankin; her brothers, John Jimmy, James Edwards, and Charles Ray;and her sisters, Mary Louise, Mildred, Pauleen, and WillieBell.
She leaves to cherish her memory her lifelong partner, James Crippen; her daughter, Tracey Milhouse (Jermaine); and herson, Jonathan Crippen (Claudine).
She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: AshaPalms (Brian), Montrese Milhouse (Michael), Erik Francis(Abby), Adam Francis, KayLynn Francis, Leyona Crippen, Sky-John Crippen, Kamryn Crippen and her great-grandchildren: Harper Jayce Milhouse, Mason Blake Milhouse, King Kire Francis, Damien Baez, and Aria MoonPalms.
Linda is also survived by her sister, Florastene Williams, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and countless others whose lives she touched along the way.
Though Linda is no longer with us in physical form, the love shegave, the lives she nurtured, and the memories she created will live on through every generation she touched.
Her presence was a gift.
Her love was her legacy.
And she will forever remain etched in our hearts.
