Obituary

Karen Cattan Rutizer, 61, of Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2023, after a long battle with cancer.  

Universally known for her kindness, talent, and intelligence, Karen will be deeply missed by family, friends and coworkers.

Highly skilled in digital and art design and a graduate of Cooper Union, Karen’s career included photography, branding and advertising designs for Condé Nast Traveler, Domino magazine, Cooking Light, Time Inc., New York Magazine and Vox Media.

She is survived by her husband, Barry Rutizer; brother, Frank Cattan; brothers-in-law, Howard and Cary  Rutizer; sister-in-law Laura Rutizer; nieces, nephew, and many close friends.

Her parents, Albert and Norma Cattan, are deceased.

A celebration of life will be held on August 13, 2023, 3PM-7PM, at Carroll Hall 2 Vandervoot Place, Brooklyn, NY 11237.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Shore Animal League America or Rescue Dogs Rock NYC.
